The serial number is found on the very rear of the pistol, right above where the web of your hand is. I don't know why yours has the #1873, that's not a part ... Sorry, the serial number is just a number...like the 34,314th made, 34,315th made, 34,316th made....etc. If you call Kel Tec, they can tell you the born date.
